Sunrise’s trip around the world continues and Flight Centre’s Social Media Specialist, Millie Yervantian is right along side them is reporting directly from sunny Cancun…
We made it to Toronto by 5 cabs, when our transfer company was unable to cross the US/Canada border to check into the charming Sandman Hotel. After a quick bite at Denny’s it was off to bed.
5am we left the hotel to make our 8am flight from Toronto to Cancun, however when we went to check in we found out it was an overbooked flight, so 5 of the 20 of us were told we would not make it on that flight.
Not taking no for an answer, Sally from Flight Centre contacted the head of the airline’s air contracting team in Australia to escalate the importance of getting us on that flight.
It was the longest 2 hours waiting to board of our lives. Just before the gate opened, we were told that two people pulled a no show and we were able to take the 3 seats assigned to crew to ensure we all made it.
We raced through Mexico’s customs and immigration, but the camera guys had additional delays getting through of about an hour.
After checking into the gorgeous adult-only Secrets The Vine, Cancun it was straight onto set.
We had a mariachi band, traditional Mexican dancers and some tequila tasting throughout the show and then it was a wrap.
Having not eaten since breakfast at 6am, we all headed to the beautiful hotel restaurant Salt and there is definitely still talks of heading to Coco Bongo later on, which looks inevitable after the week we’ve had.
We hope you’ve enjoyed travelling to 5 countries in 5 days with us!
