Political disruptions and ongoing violence in the Middle East and Africa haven’t deterred travellers from visiting the two regions this year, according to Topdeck.
The youth tour operator said it is expecting bookings to countries like Egypt, Jordan and Zanzibar to grow in 2016/17 off the back of increased bookings in 2015.
According to the company, last year the Australian and New Zealand markets to the Middle East and Africa increased by 24 percent and 16 percent respectively.
To keep up with expected demand this year, Topdeck has released two new trips in both regions.
In Africa, there’s the new 23-day Kruger, Victoria Falls and Zanzibar, while in the Middle East guests can experience Jordan’s World Heritage Site, Petra, during the 14-day Pyramids and Petra trip.
Both trips incorporate local payment into the trip price, to allow consumers to pay for the full trip amount before departure – removing the need to carry extra money on holidays.
“With increased interest in Jordan and Egypt, it was an easy decision to combine the destinations into one trip due to their proximity and bucket list appeal.”

Accommodation in the Middle East and Africa has also been altered this season, with more camping and diverse options such as safari lodges and hostels with ensuites.
“We expect to see continued growth with these products in the coming season, amidst the range of 50 trips spanning 3-58 days in both markets,” Clark added.
Topdeck’s new brochure hit the shelves next week and offer five percent off bookings paid in full six months before departure.
Meanwhile, Topdeck is preparing to welcome its new General Manager of Global Sales, Joe Ponte, who starts with the company on 1 February. Read on.
