This award is the most important prize granted by TripAdvisor, Peru’s Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PROMPERU) stated. According to the State-run organization.

“The important recognition is the outcome of intense efforts by PROMPERU, which has positioned the country as an important destination for visitors year after year through campaigns such as ‘Peru, land of hidden treasures’ and ‘Peru, dedicated to the world.”

Peru has truly taken the cake in achieving widespread recognition of its unique offerings for international travellers. In October Lonely Planet placed Peru’s archaeological site Choquequirao as number one on its Best in Travel 2017 Regional Destinations list. This award comes as one of the most prestigious that exists within travel rankings.

Earlier this month National Geographic Traveller, named Peru as the fifth must-see destination for 2017, with the Andean nation featuring on the UK publication’s ‘Cool List: 17 for 2017’. Peru was also elected for the 5th year in a row as the best culinary destination of the world at the World Travel Awards of 2016.
