It doesn’t take much to convince travellers to book a trip to Europe thanks to its mix of unique cultures, history, food, man-made sites and stunning scenery.

But even this mature travel region needs a minor marketing refresh every now and then, to move crowds of tourists away from populated areas to those less frequented.

That’s why in 2015 you would have found yourself hungry for the various foodie experiences across the continent, and over the last two years, you may have felt an overwhelming desire to tick off filming locations featured in Game of ThronesIceland, Ireland and Norway.

So what will your marketing senses tell you to try in Europe over the next 12 months?

Well, one flick through the new European brochures released over the last fortnight and it’s clear that you’ll be tempted to tick off bucket list experiences.

Tour operators such as Topdeck, Insight Vacations, Barge and Infinity Holidays have packed their 2018/19 programs will must-try European activities as opposed to new destinations.

The Topdeck’s 2018/19 European Summer brochure is full of bucketlist experiences one can only obtain in Europe from brewery visits in Ireland to Instagram-worthy pics at at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Giant’s Causeway and partying around the Greek Islands.

In a statement, the tour operator said its new brochure is about getting more Australians out of the country and ticking “some of the ultimate bucketlist places”.

“We are launching an entirely new 14-Day Euro Trip, meaning passengers can base themselves in Amsterdam and visit some awe-inspiring destinations including Munich, Rome, the Swiss Alps and Paris.”

“We still have all of our old favorites like the 27 Day Summer Fun & Sailing, plus we’re also increasing the number of trips to the Greek Islands, Croatia and the Balkans due to popular demand.”

New for the company in the coming year, is the inclusion of Mongolia in the 17-Day Trans-Mongolian Railway, which was added to encourage more Aussies to start their European holiday closer to home, in Asia.

Barge Travel Connection

Barge Travel Connection is sailing down a similar path to Topdeck with its first solo brochure featuring iconic European experiences.

In the business’ first program separate from its sister brand, French Connection, travellers can find specialty wine and cheese tours in Burgundy, Cathedral and Chateau visits in France’s Champagne region as well as church and university calls in the UK.

Barge Travel Connection’s Managing Director, Brad McDonnell, said he’s excited to be able to offer travellers access to these highly desired experiences through 48 unique barges.

“We have seen a strong growth in barge sales over recent years.”
