Emirates has just unveiled a swanky new spot for its cabin crew in Dubai: the AED 3 million (AU$1.3 million) “Crew Zone”.

According to the airline, the 24/7 hub at Emirates Group Headquarters is designed to be more than just a place to grab a coffee; it’s a full-on support system for their crew.

The Crew Zone, which took nine months to develop, is all about making crew life easier and fostering a sense of community. Imagine a place where you can catch up on reports, get advice, attend workshops or even get a beauty consultation. That’s the Crew Zone, the carrier says.

The spacious area can host up to 200 crew at a time and features seven different zones.

Firstly, there’s the Crew Engagement Zone, where crew can learn about the latest Emirates initiatives and sign up for training.

Meanwhile, the One Device Hub helps crew with their company-issued iPhones and iPads, which are loaded with custom apps to streamline onboard service.

The Facilities Distribution Service handles all those important documents, like visas, while the Crew Computer Zone provides workstations for digital tasks.

Emirates also provides 24/7 operational support at the Crew Connect Services area.

And let’s not forget the Beauty Hub, which moved into the Crew Zone after launching in 2023. Here, crew can get personalised advice on makeup, skincare and more.

Finally, for some downtime, the Crew Lounge offers comfy seating for a quick recharge.

25 years on

Closer to home, Emirates is today celebrating a major milestone – 25 years of connecting Sydney to the world. Since launching its service in March 2000 with four weekly flights via Singapore, the airline has grown to operate three daily direct flights between Sydney and Dubai, linking Australians to over 140 destinations worldwide.

To date, Emirates has carried over nine million passengers on more than 35,000 flights to and from Sydney.

“Sydney is such an iconic city, it’s no wonder that it remains one of our top destinations from Dubai, with over 15,000 passengers flying to and from Sydney with Emirates each week,” Emirates Divisional Vice President Australasia Barry Brown said.

“Over the years, Emirates has responded to growing travel demand with agility, by boosting capacity into Sydney from four-weekly to three-daily direct services and offering more travellers the opportunity to experience the city’s fantastic beaches, stunning harbour and beautiful coastline.”

To celebrate, Emirates passengers flying Sydney-Dubai on 26 March will enjoy Australian-inspired treats, including pavlova, Lamington Cake, and Bundt Cake.
