The Australian corporate arms of Flight Centre Travel Group (FCM, CT, Stage and Screen and Flight Centre Business Travel) have collectively welcomed the announcement that Brisbane is set to host the Summer Games in 2032, predicting that business travel would take off more than ever.

“For more than two weeks, Brisbane and the Sunshine State will have the eyes of the world on it and the benefit for business, the economy and job creation are undoubtedly endless,” said Flight Centre Travel Group General Manager Australia James Kavanagh.

“Southeast Queensland will be transformed into the beating heart for business in the lead-up to, during, and after the Games have taken place and its exciting Business travel is set to soar thanks to Brisbane Games 2032 proposition for our corporate teams to be able to work with businesses large and small to cater to their needs.

“It’s also important to highlight that a major event such as this is a real boon for what we call the ‘bleisure’ industry – the ability to truly amalgamate business with pleasure – making it a win-win scenario for both the business and leisure travel/tourism industries.”

“The sky really is the limit when it comes to combining business with the most-watched and attended sporting event on the globe and it’s an incredibly exciting time for Brisbane and the state of Queensland as a whole,” said FCM General Manager Australia Melissa Elf.

“The eyes of both large and medium business from around the world will be on the Sunshine State and it’s an incredible opportunity to cement the state as an economic powerhouse.

“The growth in business, construction and employment is going to be substantial and we’re looking forward to assisting all the travel needs that this influx will inevitably bring.”

“With events heading out across multiple LGAs, the Brisbane Games will also be a boon for intrastate travel, giving businesses from all of Queensland the chance to be involved. “With the anticipated demand, having a dedicated travel manager will be more crucial than ever as the Sunshine State welcomes visitors from both interstate and around the world.”
