South Australians, get ready for more flights to Fiji – and more options for travel to North America. Fiji Airways has announced it is boosting its Adelaide-Nadi service from two to three flights a week.
Starting in April 2025, South Australians and others will be able to fly non-stop from Adelaide to Nadi on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. All flights between the two ports will utilise the airline’s 170-seat B737 Max 8.
Flight FJ961 will depart NAN at 7.30am and arrive in ADL at 11.35am. FJ960 will then leave ADL at 12.35pm and land in NAN at 8.15pm.
“We are excited to grow our Adelaide-Nadi service, making it easier for South Australians to experience the beauty of Fiji and to provide enhanced connectivity throughout our network – including North America and the Pacific Islands,” Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO of Andre Viljoen said.
“Whether guests are heading to Fiji or beyond, we aim to provide a comfortable, reliable journey and reinforce our role as a key link between Australia and the Pacific region.”
Adelaide Airport Managing Director Brenton Cox hailed the increase as “fantastic for our market, both as a wonderful holiday destination and as a one-stop connection with the US west coast.”
“Flights will arrive in Adelaide late morning and depart shortly after midday, so it’s a family-friendly timeslot and avoids an overnight flight between the two cities,” he said.
“The flights also offer good connections via Nadi with the airline’s North American schedule, providing another option for South Australians heading to the US, and indeed US travellers heading to SA.”
For example, South Australia will soon be linked to Texas with one stop, thanks to Fiji Airways, which commences direct Nadi-Dallas flights in December this year.
Adding to Adelaide
SA authorities also expect the additional capacity to help boost South Australian tourism.
“North America is a key international market for our state, so having another easy one-stop connection with Fiji Airways will make South Australia an even more enticing destination,” South Australian Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison remarked.
“South Australia’s international market is currently worth a record-high $1.3 billion to our visitor economy, and this momentum is set to continue thanks to the continued increase in international airline capacity.”
At the 2024 World Airline Awards, Fiji Airways was named Best Airline in Australia/Pacific, and picked up gongs for Best Economy Class in Australia/Pacific, Best Cabin Crew in Australia/Pacific, Best Airline Staff in Australia/Pacific and Best Business Class Onboard Catering in Australia and Pacific.
In December, Adelaide will welcome its ninth international airline. Read about that here.
