“I don’t really believe in karma,” says The White Lotus’ Tanya McQuoid, played by Jennifer Coolidge. “But I do believe in good lighting.” And if there’s one thing Vivid Sydney does well, it’s good lighting. But this year’s Vivid has more to offer than that AND now it’s got Coolidge too.

Now visitors to Vivid Sydney can find out. Both she and the creator, writer and director of The White Lotus, Mike White have been added to the festival’s program for 2023.
The pair will join forces for Mike White & Jennifer Coolidge in Conversation, an exclusive event as part of Vivid Ideas. They’ll discuss their career highs and lows and share hilarious anecdotes from their decades of experience in Hollywood.
Where do I know her from?
If you’re old like me, Coolidge is the masseuse who wouldn’t massage Jerry in Seinfeld. She eventually perfected the bend and snap move from Legally Blonde. And if you thought you saw her in that thing, then you probably did, because her filmography is almost as long as Tanya’s ability to hold a grudge.
In her signature breathy voice, Coolidge took to Instagram to announce her coming trip to Sydney. And of course, she’s in bed in a blazer. Because: Coolidge.
But isn’t Vivid Sydney just about the lights?
Coolidge and White are no doubt stars, but what has their light got to do with Vivid Sydney?
“Securing these huge megastars cements Vivid Sydney 2023 as the biggest and most culturally relevant program yet,” said Festival Director, Gill Minervini.
Minister for Jobs and Tourism John Graham said this event “will be a huge drawcard for fans from near and far”.
“Sydney is a city where creative industries, ideas and conversations can thrive. I am pleased to see this event added to the program. I hope it will be an opportunity for Mike White and Jennifer Coolidge to fall in love with NSW when they visit.”
Mike White & Jennifer Coolidge in Conversation will be hosted at the Aware Super Theatre, ICC Sydney, Darling Harbour, on Saturday 10 June from 7.30pm to 8.45pm and will be moderated by Benjamin Law (another personal fave).
