Three weeks after announcing it would recommence its Melbourne-Jakarta flights, Garuda Indonesia has revealed it will resume non-stop services between Melbourne and Bali Denpasar.
Starting 10 December 2022, the new service will initially fly one return trip per week.
Flight GA719 will depart Melbourne on Saturday at 0910 and touch down at Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport at 1205, with the return flight, GA718, departing Denpasar at 2300 and arriving at Tullamarine at 0735 the next morning.
Garuda Indonesia will operate an Airbus A330-300 aircraft on the route, with 36 business class and 215 economy class seats, the airline confirmed in an email to Karryon.
The Indonesian national airline will resume its Jakarta-Melbourne flights on 23 November 2022.
Last month, the carrier said it would recommence a twice-weekly service to accommodate market demand for international corporate and leisure travel, which was especially high from Australia.
“The re-opening of the Melbourne service is one of Garuda Indonesia’s efforts to optimise the momentum of the national economic recovery, especially through the tourism sector,” Garuda Indonesia President and CEO Irfan Setiaputra said.
Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation Jim Parashos said Indonesia was a “priority market” for Melbourne Airport, and that the resumption of Garuda Indonesia services would give “the opportunity for Victorians to explore and enjoy more Indonesian destinations”.
Indonesia’s flag carrier resumed non-stop flights between Bali and Sydney in March 2022.
According to OAG, Garuda Indonesia was Asia-Pacific’s first and world’s second most punctual airline in September, with a 96.6 per cent on-time performance for arrivals.
