MSC Cruises has just inked a deal with Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France for two brand new liquefied natural gas-powered World Class ships set to be delivered in 2025 and 2027.

The two new ships mark the third and fourth LNG-powered World Class ships the line has ordered.

The first of the initial two ships in the class, MSC Europa, is currently under construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire. She is due to enter service in May 2022.

She will become the biggest vessel operated by a European cruise line as well as the first LNG-powered cruise ship built in France.

Delivery of the second World Class vessel is scheduled for 2024.

This new generation of MSC ships can carry up to 6,761 passengers across 2,632 cabins.

MSC Cruises has also pledged it’s commitment to achieving a zero-impact future by investing in the accelerated development of new energy solutions and environmental technologies that will allow that.
