Hong Kong Airlines announced the launch of its Sydney flights, which commence on 20 June, earlier this year.
“The arrival of Hong Kong Airlines will enhance opportunities for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between Sydney and Hong Kong, delivering significant economic benefits to New South Wales, and Australia,” Sydney Airport CEO Scott Charlton said at the time of the announcement.

In January 2025, Hong Kong Airlines also touched down at Gold Coast Airport, reinstating the direct route for the first time since 2018.
This week, the Hong Kong Tourism Board revealed a strong surge in arrivals for the first quarter of 2025, with Aussie visitation to the city-state up 32 per cent year-on-year.
