TRAIL BLAZING: 8Hotels debuts Surry Hills guest house as Airbnb hotel

Sydney boutique hotel group 8Hotels has broken new ground with their project, The Little Albion Guest House in Surry Hills, which will be listed on Airbnb.

Sydney boutique hotel group 8Hotels has broken new ground with their project, The Little Albion Guest House in Surry Hills, which will be listed on Airbnb.

The 8hotels luxury 35-room guest house in inner-city Sydney which opened this week is the first hotel available for booking as a single listing on Airbnb.

Hotelier Paul Fischmann told Travel and Tour World that he chose Airbnb over a standard online travel operator because 1). It has massive market exposure and 2). It has lower sales commission on rooms booked.

“Airbnb charges only a few percentage points off revenue, rather than online operators’ 15 per cent.”

The news follows hot on the heels of Airbnb’s announcement earlier this year that it would be expanding into bed and breakfasts and boutique hotels.

Paul said The Little Albion Guest House was developed with the same attention to detail that a homeowner has in creating their dream home.

“It’s truly one of a kind property, just like the homes you find on Airbnb,” he said.

As a big fan of Airbnb himself, Paul said he was excited to be partnering with them

The hotel can be booked in its entirety for $15,000 or booked as individual rooms.
