Are you wondering what the ‘new normal’ looks like onboard a cruise ship? You are not alone. Hurtigruten has heard your ponders and has shared insight into what the world of COVID cruise travel currently looks like…
How is social distancing actually working on cruise ships?
What’s it like to sail on the first cruise ships back at sea?
These are the questions being asked by many cruise lovers and travel agents planning future voyages.
Hurtigruten’s new health and safety video explains the details, but often only real-life experience can effectively communicate the feeling of sailing again, and how cruising has changed in a Covid-19 world.
The first ocean cruise line to return to sailing
Hurtigruten was the first ocean cruise line to return to sailing when the MS Finnmarken left Bergen, Norway, to sail the Original Coastal Voyage (Bergen-Kirkenes-Bergen) last month.
By the end of September, Hurtigruten will have 14 of its 16-strong fleet in operation, including sailings to Svalbard and the High Arctic, as well as new itineraries to the British Isles on the world’s first hybrid-powered ship, the MS Roald Amundsen, commencing late September.
New images from Norway
Hurtigruten has recently shared some spectacular images from its new hybrid-powered expedition ship, MS Fritdjof Nansen, on her Norway expedition from Hamburg, Germany.
As well as incredible scenery, the images illustrate how social distancing is working onboard and during its activities and landings.
The images also show how the strict health and safety changes that have been put into place, cannot take away from the extraordinary scenery and the overall expedition experience.
It is, as Hurtigruten’s CEO, Daniel Skjeldam noted recently, “differently magnificent”.
Just a few minutes long, Hurtigruten’s onboard health & safety video covers every aspect of the new health and safety processes in an easy to understand and engaging way, reassuring both agents and guests that safety is, and always has been, Hurtigruten’s top priority.
“Confidence in cruising will be key to the return of a sustainable cruising industry. Any guest watching our new Hurtigruten health and safety video will know that our protocols will keep them, and our crew and staff, as safe as possible. They can feel confident booking and travelling with us,”
Damian Perry, Managing Director Hurtigruten Asia Pacific.
