Aussie tour operator tops best workplace list… again!

“We believe work should be great,” says Inspiring Vacations Managing Director Paul Ryan. But so do a lot of companies. So why has Inspiring Vacations again clinched the title of the 2024 AFR BOSS Best Place to Work in the Retail, Hospitality, Tourism & Entertainment sector?

“We believe work should be great,” says Inspiring Vacations Managing Director Paul Ryan. But so do a lot of companies. So why has Inspiring Vacations again clinched the title of the 2024 AFR BOSS Best Place to Work in the Retail, Hospitality, Tourism & Entertainment sector?

The travel industry is (rightly) perceived as fun and fulfilling. But to deny the hard slog that can sometimes accompany the passion would be a disservice to the talented, resilient and committed people who work in travel.

Not too long, like so many in the industry, Ryan and his team were working through the night before borders closed trying to get Aussies home. The importance of being surrounded by good people was not lost on Ryan.

The borders may be open and travel demand may still be booming, but one of the biggest issues facing the industry is staff attraction and retention.

And yet through this, Inspiring Vacations has won, for the second year in a row, an award that recognises it as the best place to work in our industry.

Ryan credits the win with letting the people lead the employee experience.

“We continually ask our people what they want their workplace to look Iike,” he says.

“As a result we offer industry-leading benefits and rewards, investing deeply in our people’s development and well-being, as well as genuine flexibility.”

Gift of the Fifth is still paying off

The company has introduced innovative programs like ‘Gift of the Fifth’, transitioning to a four-day workweek.

They also offer an Annual Vacation Benefit, which includes a free annual trip and additional leave for employees, emphasizing the company’s commitment to employee well-being and job satisfaction.

“This is a genuinely exceptional work environment,” Ryan says.

“I am immensely proud of our culture, and this award is a testament to our collective hard work in creating a workplace where our team truly thrives.”
