KarryOn install sleeping capsules to launch travel by the second service

We're excited to announce today that KarryOn are fitting out the office with Japanese style sleeping capsules to launch a new 24/7 news by the second and KarryOn Sleepover service.

We’re excited to announce today that KarryOn are fitting out the office with Japanese style sleeping capsules to launch a new 24/7 news by the second and KarryOn Sleepover service.

We’re shaking things up at KarryOn.

Back in the day the industry got their news about travel weekly, then it became travel daily and today we’re accelerating our news service to become travel by the second.

In an effort to keep up with today’s fast-paced nature of the travel industry – an industry where things change by the minute, not by the week or by the day – we’ve decided to ramp up our publishing frequency to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

That’s right loyal readers.

Starting from today, we’ll be working round the clock to deliver you the very best travel news stories and features as they happen.

In order to facilitate this round-the-clock working schedule, we also have some pretty exciting news!

We’re installing eight new sleeping capsules in the KarryOn office to help our editorial staff get the snooze they need in order to deliver fresh news to you by the second.

It’s great news indeed, and we think even George Constanza would be mighty chuffed with our foray into office-based sleeping pods!

The capsules, which were imported from Japan back in February, are produced by Shintakiju Ltd, the company behind the PodTime sleeping capsules found in increasingly more hotels around the world.

With dimensions of 8-feet by 3-feet, the capsules are big enough to ensure everybody – even our 6ft 5″ Founder Matt Leedham – a comfortable night’s sleep. The capsules will be fitted with BOSE speakers that connect to the office’s sound system and Spotify account to lull our staff to sleep on their allocated sleeping breaks with the sounds of ‘Enya’ throughout the day.

“It’s something I got really inspired about after a recent trip to Tokyo where I stayed at a capsule hotel and had a wonderful sleep after drifting off to the sounds of the Japanese equivalent of ‘Enya’. They’re the perfect use of space and are actually quite comfy once you squeeze into one. I’m personally looking forward to not having to drag myself off one of our office sofas anymore when I put a late shift in. Kampai to that!”

Matt Leedham, KarryOn Founder

As we all know, regular naps boost productivity in the workplace, and we’re committed to maximising this at KarryOn.

Where the magic happens.

That’s our office – it’s where the magic happens.

And this is where the sleeping will happen, once the capsules are installed.

The capsules also feature independent climate control systems which enable staff to set there own temperatures inside the capsule. Don’t worry: everybody’s going to be very comfortable.

And, to give everyone a little caffeine boost throughout the day, we’re also fitting a cafe corner into the office, serving coffee in our very own branded coffee cups!

Check these bad boys out!

We’re also happy to announce that starting on 1 May, we’ll be opening our doors to our interstate and international clients to stay a night or two at the KarryOn office and experience what it’s like to stay in a capsule for themselves.

We’re VERY excited about giving our friends around the country and around the world a taste of KarryOn hospitality. The new service will be called KarryOn Sleepover.

Stay tuned for a the new booking engine which will become live on our website later this month.

KarryOn would to thank everybody for their support during the last three years and we look forward to continue being the voice of the travel industry for many years to come!

Are you as excited as we are about the new capsules? Come on down for a KarryOn Sleepover.
