Pinch and a punch for the first day of the month. Welcome to August ladies and gentlemen, you’re now well past the mid-way point of 2015 and there’s only five more months until Christmas (*cough* Christmas holidays). Where does the time go?

I can’t answer that question for the last seven months, but I can tell you what kept you slightly occupied this week.

Debris found off the cost of Reunion Island could be linked to MH370.

Well first and foremost, investigators in the MH370 mystery received their first big clue since the plane went missing last year.

A two-metre section of the wing was found off the shore of Reunion island in the western Indian ocean.

The object along with a suitcase were transported to France to determine if they are connected to the missing aircraft.

Applications are now open for this year’s Avis Travel Agent Scholarship.

On a more positive note, the search has begun for Australia’s most customer-orientated travel agent. That’s right entries have opened for this year’s Avis Travel Agent Scholarship.

P&O reveals a huge lineup for the arrival of forthcoming ships.

In the cruising world, P&O has revealed a huge celebrity line-up for the arrival of its two new ships Pacific Eden and Pacific Aria.

And we’re not kidding when we say huge – names like Jessica Mauboy, The Veronicas, Samantha Jade, Justice Crew and Stan Walker will join a half-day musical extravaganza when the ships along with the three other P&O ships sail into Sydney Harbour on 25 November.

Qantas launches a second services between Australia and Japan.

While you sip on that last bit of coffee on the lounge this morning, spare a thought for the employees of Qantas and Etihad who have been hard at work launching new flights today.

The Flying Kangaroo adds a second daily flight between Australia and Japan while Etihad launches its second daily service between Melbourne and Abu Dhabi.

Oh and if you’re wondering who the incredible chef in the main picture above is, he’s Perth-born Head Chef Dave Pynt who has been named the Barbeque Ambassador for the iconic W Retreat & Spa in the Maldives.
