Good morning ya’ll, it’s the weekend 🙂 but before you slip into Saturday-mode here’s a quick recap of some of the most memorable moments in travel this week.
“Here come the Men in Black” – we’ve had that Will Smith hit stuck in our heads since Thursday when Air New Zealand almost broke the internet with its newest safety video.
The hilarious five-minute clip was inspired by the 90’s sci-fi film ‘Men in Black’ and received an incredible four million views within the first 24 hours of its release – the biggest launch for a safety video.
Aside from being recognised as a brilliant means of dispersing safety information, Air New Zealand has been praised for the immense brand awareness it has received.
Air New Zealand’s Head of Global Brand Development, Jodi Williams, believes the latest video is the carrier’s best safety clip yet, but admits to being surprised by how ‘quickly it’s taken off’.
It’s been a busy week for airlines all-round, especially Australian airlines, with Qantas announcing major upgrades to its Brisbane lounges and Virgin revealing it’s on its way to making a profit.
In Virgin’s latest financial update, CEO John Borghetti said the company is on track to earning a profit this financial year after experiencing a drastic improvement in its underlying loss before tax for the year ending 30 June.
Dubai-based carrier, Emirates made two major announcements this week, the first being that it had signed up Jennifer Aniston to be the face of its new TVC campaign and the other that it had usurped Qantas with the longest non-stop route.
Commencing February next year, the airline will fly Dubai to Panama City, which is an hour and 35 minutes longer than Qantas former longer flight in the world between Sydney to Dallas.
New research revealed Flight Centre is leading the industry as the top travel agent/tour operator used to book a holiday by Aussies.
The study by Roy Morgan found, Flight Centre was used by 9.4 percent of the population for a holiday, ahead of online booking sites and other agency groups.
