Travelling through Sydney Airport and have a little time (and a lot of money) to spare? Sydney Airport has just officially opened its new luxury shopping precinct SYD X at the International T1 terminal.

Presented as a street-style shopping experience, with an oval design for easy navigation, SYD X is home to 20 luxury brands.

And as it operates in an airside space, travellers can purchase its luxury items without GST.

With its sparkling Lobmeyer chandelier suspending overhead, Tiffany & Co is the latest store to re-open at SYD X.

The boutique joins other luxury names like Burberry, Bvlgari, Celine, Dior, Gucci, Hermès, Prada and Rolex, among others, which opened in the second half of 2022.

Also in the precinct, Heinemann Tax & Duty Free unveiled an expanded offering of beauty, fashion and accessories products including brands including Chloe, Kenzo and Lanvin.

“In 2019, we set out to change the face of luxury at Sydney Airport and I’m delighted to see our vision come together,” Sydney Airport Executive General Manager of Commercial Mark Zaouk said.

“Meticulous work has gone into creating a unique luxury shopping destination, from the layout and design of the new precinct to the superior experiences available in each of the luxury stores. And there is more to come!

“International travellers can look forward to curated brand, culinary and luxury experiences, as we continue to innovate and position Sydney Airport as a key player on the world stage of luxury.”

SYD X Ambassador revealed

Marking the official launch of SYD X, the airport has also partnered with Australian high-profile personal shopper Gab Waller, who has worked with the Kardashians and Hailey Bieber, among others.

“As someone who works in luxury fashion and travels a lot for work the arrival of SYD X is a game changer,” said Waller, who becomes the precinct’s official Ambassador.

“I can do all my shopping before I fly, avoid the queues in the city malls, snap up travel exclusives only available at Sydney Airport and purchase everything tax free!

“The best thing is there’s something for everyone, from a bottle of beautiful perfume to enjoy on your holiday to the Hermes handbag you’ve had your eye on for years. SYD X is an experience worth arriving early for.”

With Cartier and Versace also set to join the precinct in the coming months, the venue will become Australia’s largest collection of luxury brands, the airport says.

When fully completed in mid-2023, SYD X will showcase more than 2,700 sqm of retail space.
