Ultra-luxury yacht Scenic Eclipse II has left Lisbon, Portugal for its first cruise season. The new vessel will sail the Mediterranean for two months before moving on to a series of expeditions in the Arctic and Antarctica.

In April 2024, Scenic Eclipse II will then move to the Southern Hemisphere to explore the Kimberley, Asia, South Pacific, and East Antarctica and the Ross Sea.

Aboard the “Discovery Yacht” for its maiden voyage – an 11-day Incredible Iberian Discovery cruise to Barcelona, Spain – is Scenic Group chairman and founder, Glen Moroney, and partner, Karen Moroney.

Other top-tier loyalty guests and specially invited VIPs will also take part in the voyage.

Under the supervision of Scenic Group Oceans Director of Food and Beverage Tom Goetter, guests on the maiden voyage will enjoy the ship’s ten dining options, including the new Chef’s Garden @ Epicure. Here, the executive chef and his team will “share the secrets” of local dishes and cooking techniques in an immersive culinary masterclass.

Pushing the boundaries

“The arrival of Scenic Eclipse II really is a dream come true,” Glen Moroney said.

“Seeing it here today is testament to the incredible hard work of the team at Scenic Group and MKM Yachts.

“Guests tell us every day that they simply cannot believe the experiences they get to enjoy when journeying with us – Scenic Eclipse II will elevate that once again.

“We have pushed the boundaries to what is possible on an ultra-luxury vessel, both in terms of comfort and technology.”

Effectively doubling the group’s capacity in the expedition cruise market, Scenic Eclipse II is almost identical in design to sister-ship Scenic Eclipse, which hit the market in 2019. But there have been a few upgrades.

Among the enhancements on the 167-metre, 114-suite vessel is the new Sky Deck, which boasts 270-degree views. There is also a new Sky Bar with indoor and outdoor seating, including six private cabanas.

Another feature is the large, oval-shaped pool with special water jets that allow guests to swim ‘laps’.
