Google is adding new AI-powered features that allow people to book and plan travel in Search, including rolling out its ‘Flight Deals’ tool within Google Flights globally and expanding agentic booking capabilities to more users. So, what does this mean for advisors?

The tech company initially trialled Flight Deals in the US, Canada and India in August 2025.

From 17 November, Google Flights will expand its AI search tool to more than 200 markets, including Australia and New Zealand, enabling more people to find affordable destinations and save money based on their travel preferences.

So, what does this mean for agents?

While Flight Deals can impact travel advisors by catering for flexible, price-driven travellers, it can also create new opportunities to engage clients with complex needs.

Advisors can handle complex itineraries, such as specific requests or logistical requirements, focusing on areas where you can offer more value than a tool through in-depth product and destination knowledge and personalised service.

It shifts the conversation from simple price comparison to personalised itinerary planning, using AI as a tool for agents to prompt inspiration and recommendations.

In a blog post about the new Google Flights capabilities, Google VP of Engineering, Search Julie Farago said: “Thanks to our latest AI upgrades, Search can handle some of the heavy lifting: New AI-powered features can help you build the perfect itinerary, find the best deals and turn your plans into bookings.”

US Google users can now customise and organise their travel plans using real-time search data with the ‘Canvas’ tool in AI Mode on desktop by telling AI Mode what type of trip you’re planning and the recommendations you’re after.

Google will also expand AI Mode’s agentic capabilities to more people, allowing US users to book restaurants, events and wellness appointments by describing what you’re looking for along with your needs and preferences.

AI Mode will search across multiple reservation platforms and websites to find real-time availability that matches your criteria.

Google is also looking at enabling users to finish booking flights and hotels directly in AI Mode, transferring all the planning and doing.

Farago said: “With today’s updates, AI will handle more of the busywork – so you can spend less time planning and more time having fun.”
