Your boarding pass can now transform into a digital compensation voucher in the event of flight delay or disruption, thanks to Sabre Corporation’s new partnership with tech platform iCoupon.
Using the iCoupon technology, airlines can turn passenger and staff boarding passes into vouchers, eliminating the need for a physical voucher for an eco-friendly solution to managing flight disruption.
iCoupon allows airlines and ground handlers to issue digital vouchers directly to a passenger’s boarding pass in case of significant delays or disruption.
Passengers can instantly redeem the voucher at any iCoupon-integrated airport restaurant or retailer via mobile or printed boarding pass and used it for staff and crew meal entitlements.
Sabre Travel Solutions Senior Vice President, Product Management Corrie DeCamp said airline passengers expect and demand instant solutions when unexpected delays or disruptions occur.
“Providing immediate compensation through unique barcodes on boarding passes that passengers already have streamlines processes for airlines while minimising what can be a stressful situation for both passengers and airline staff,” she said.
“We’re delighted to be bringing our airline partners the opportunity to add iCoupon to their disruption strategies.”
iCoupon has issued more than one billion vouchers for airlines, airports, partners and retailers such as Lufthansa Group, SAS, Wizz Air, Ryanair, Aer Lingus, Norwegian, AirFrance KLM and more. The new alliance will enable the company to offer the voucher solution to more airlines.
iCoupon CEO Richard Bye said: “Sabre has deep global expertise in minimising the impact of airline disruption, so we’re thrilled that we will be working closely together through this new agreement.”
