Travelport rolls out 'Smart-er' GDS

Less clicks, more details, additional graphics and interactive airfares – they’re just some of the upgrades Travelport has rolled out in the latest upgrades of its GDS.

Travelport Smartpoint 6.0 has been fitted with additional capabilities, which the technology company says will make booking airfares easier for agents.

So what’s new?

First and foremost, Smartpoint 6.0 has fully interactive and graphical screen displays.

Through these screens agents have access to more flight information and new images they can use to sell seats to their clients.

There’s also the real-time booking feature, which ensure clients are getting what they want on-demand.

Travel agents using the new version can also access an airline’s branded fares and ancillaries at the availability, fare quote and fare shop stages of the booking process.

This provides a new level of product insight and information at more of the key stages in the customer buying experience.

In turn, travelers can be better informed of the products available to them, the options that might exist, the cost of the next product up and the ancillary products available to buy, to tailor their journey to their specific requirements.

Further enhancements also include reducing the number of clicks required to access important information and the ability for agents to book and pay for the wide portfolio of low cost carriers Travelport has integrated into its platform, using debit cards (in addition to credit cards) within the same booking workflow.

Smartpoint 6.0 is available to download to the desktop app or an automated upgrade for those using the web browser version.
