Contiki smashes Japan target: Doubles capacity for 2016

There’s a larger than expected number of young people keen to experience Japan’s culture, food, tradition and entertainment, according to Contiki.

The young holiday specialist revealed that its Japan Unrivalled itinerary sold out last year, despite only being in its first year of operation.

Numbers don’t seem to have slowed down for 2016, with Contiki confirming demand is so high that it has decided to double capacity in the country.

“We introduced Japan Unrivalled as a result of strong demand from 18-35’s to experience exotic and unique cities in Japan, including Tokyo, Hiroshima, Kyoto and Osaka, and the response so far continues to be incredible.”

According to Lonergan Research and commissioned by Contiki, Tokyo is the most desired destination in Japan for young Australians.

The study also found that when planning a trip to Asia, around 56 percent of 18-35 year-old Aussies put Tokyo as their top destination and Osaka at number three.
