Where’s your Magic Place? Qantas introduces first new onboard safety video in four years

Qantas will begin rolling out its new inflight safety video this week, its first since the Qantas centenary-themed video that debuted in 2020.

Qantas will begin rolling out its new inflight safety video this week, its first since the Qantas centenary-themed video that debuted in 2020.

Safety videos come in all shapes and sizes, but they need to be engaging – given they’re compulsory viewing for all flyers. The new Qantas video is no exception, as it takes viewers on a journey to the ‘Magic Places’ of the Qantas pilots, cabin crew, customer service agents and Frequent Flyers who star throughout the video.

Starting with views over Litchfield National Park in Darwin, the new video features popular Qantas destinations as well as less frequented spots around Australia and across the world. And it’s a visual delight, so you won’t mind it interrupting your inflight entertainment (btw – here’s what QF flyers binged-watched the most in 2023)

To shoot its new video, Qantas shook things up, with filming taking place across 14 destinations in 40 days in temperatures ranging from -36 degrees in Lapland, Finland to 36 degrees in Jaipur, India.

With safety the number one priority at the airline, Qantas Chief Customer Officer Catriona Larritt said the inflight video and cabin crew were crucial in ensuring passengers paid attention to critical safety information.

“First and foremost, the video is about familiarising our customers with safety procedures and we try to make it as engaging as possible, in particular for regular flyers who might otherwise tune out,” she said.

“We are proud to feature our own well-travelled team members and customers, to not only deliver the safety message but also promote travel and tourism by inspiring people to explore destinations they may not have experienced throughout Australia and beyond.”
