Qatar Airways has provided some welcome support to The Royal Children’s Hospital, donating $80,000 to its annual Good Friday Appeal.

This year marks the third consecutive time Qatar Airways has become involved with the event.

Each year, the Easter-time initiative raises much-needed funds for the Melbourne hospital, culminating in a telethon on Good Friday.

It has raised a whopping $400 million since 1931, helping to deliver crucial care to young patients and their families at The Royal Children’s Hospital.

Donations aid research, technology, patient and family-centred care programmes and also staff training and development, among other things.

“Every year, the Good Friday Appeal inspires the wider community to unite for a good cause,” Qatar Airways Regional Manager for Australia and New Zealand Justin Kestel said.

“Qatar Airways is honoured to play a part in raising funds for the Appeal, to ensure The Royal Children’s Hospital continues to provide world-class care for kids in need.

“We remain committed to serving the Australian market, by providing both a world-class airline experience, and supporting local causes.”

Qatar Airways also gifted two business class tickets to Europe to the charity’s raffle, while Melbourne-based QR team members assisted hospital staff on the day and took calls from donors during the telethon.
