Frequent flyers know that not all airport duty-free shopping is alike – there’s product range, savings, availability and discounts to consider. The good news is Australia’s top airport for duty-free deals is also its most accessible.
Australian travel brand Kadi Luggage surveyed six major airports and analysed more than 25,000 products to crown Sydney Airport as Australia’s top destination for duty-free shopping.
The research compared prices and availability against retailers, such as Sephora and BWS, as well as overall product range, savings, availability, customer satisfaction, deals and convenience.
Australian airports with the best duty-free deals/shopping

SYD ranked first with the highest average savings at 10.1 per cent, followed by Perth Airport at 7.7 per cent, despite having the nation’s smallest range.
As Sydney Airport is a major hub and a common transit for international flights, more Aussies can take advantage of SYD as a duty-free shopping destination.

SYD has the most comprehensive range, located in the stunning SYD X luxury shopping precinct within T1 International Terminal, with more than 3,500 products available, including 945 individual tech items and 552 different spirits.
Sydney Airport also ranked highest for tech products with the biggest range.

However, Melbourne Airport has the largest spirits selection with 694 products and bundle deals available, plus there’s a new-look duty-free area on the horizon.
Gold Coast Airport is the nation’s top beauty spot with 820 cosmetics, fragrance and skincare products plus standout savings.

Meanwhile, the award-winning Adelaide Airport is the most convenient for duty-free shopping with 180-day pre-order access and 100 per cent availability of benchmark products.
