G Adventures relaunches trips in Peru to support local communities

G Adventures will reboot its Peru tour operations from 1 March 2023 to help local communities and businesses that rely on tourism. The global tour operator is committed to returning to Peru to assist with the post-pandemic travel recovery.

A state of emergency and recent unrest also saw popular Peru attractions Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail closed to tourists for almost one month, which have since reopened fully from 15 February.

G Adventures APAC Managing Director Sean Martin said the last few months had been very challenging in Peru however the adventure operator is poised to relaunch trips as quickly as possible.

“Local communities and businesses that were pushing to get started following the pandemic being hit with another tourism dip,” Mr Martin said.

“Our team on the ground has been monitoring the situation closely, including the reopening of Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail, to ensure we could relaunch as quickly as possible once it was safe to do so.”

“Plus, with the usual closure of the Inca Trail in February, travellers will be able to hike the iconic trail after its annual maintenance.

“There will be some small itinerary adjustments in areas such as Puno while we continue to monitor the situation, but most of our itineraries will run as normal,” he said.

G Adventures 2023 Peru tours include the nine-day, marine-style Amazon Riverboat in Depth trip, 10-day The Inca Journey classic-style trip and seven-day The Inca Trail active hiking trip.
