Turning up the volume: Travellers Choice launches ‘Choose Day’ campaign

Travellers Choice has unveiled a new recruitment campaign that aims to raise its profile whilst urging independent travel agents to “take time out” to consider the benefits of joining the network.

Travellers Choice has unveiled a new recruitment campaign that aims to raise its profile whilst urging independent travel agents to “take time out” to consider the benefits of joining the network.

Called “Choose Day”, the Travellers Choice campaign promotes the network’s “freedom and flexibility” at a time when travel agency consolidation continues to grow.

Travellers Choice Managing Director Christian Hunter says the new initiative flies in the face of the group’s traditional low-key approach to self-promotion, even though the group has won numerous accolades, including back-to-back NTIA awards as Australia’s Best Agency Group.

“Our focus has always been on delivering benefits to our members rather than blowing our own trumpet,“ he says.

“While that has resulted in an unrivalled 100 per cent satisfaction rating among our members, it means that we still come across independent travel agents who know little about our company.

“We are hoping to change that by inviting agents to take time out during Choose Day to learn more about Travellers Choice and the benefits we offer independent agents – from our outstanding marketing, sales and technology support to our flexible membership options and shareholder returns.”

With retail travel consolidation on the rise, Hunter believes independent agents should now be taking a long, hard look at their current consortia arrangements so that they indeed remain independent.

“Every independent agency owner should now be asking themselves whether they are really enjoying the kind of control, freedom, flexibility and support they need and deserve. If you are not getting all of these, let’s start a conversation.”

Casting a wider net

As well as launching its Choose Day initiative, Travellers Choice is looking for its first Network Development Manager, a Sydney-based role that will focus on boosting the brand and its membership base.

“Changing group sounds like a daunting thing to consider, but as all of our newest members will tell you, it’s really not,” says Hunter.

“Embrace Choose Day, and you’ll never look back.”

In July, Travellers Choice held a series of member meetings across five state capitals, giving member shareholders the chance to talk shop on the issues impacting independent travel agents and help shape the group’s strategy moving forward.
