Ninety-seven million dollars seems like an impossible figure to spend unless you’re Royal Caribbean giving Voyager of the Seas a makeover, then it’s the perfect amount to deliver a fresh ship to your favourite market.
When Voyager of the Seas sails back into Australia later this year, she’ll do so looking and feeling completely new after completing a huge US$97 million amiplification.
Gone are the days of ‘revitalisations’, it’s all about the amplifications of cruise ships, which Voyager of the Seas will be the fourth to receive after Oasis of the Seas completes hers in the coming months.
The ‘larger than life makeover’ will see one of Australia’s beloved giant cruise ships receive a number of fun new additions – waterslides, laser tag, a nursery etc. – that’ll compliment refreshed favourites – the spa, rooms, etc..
Susan Bonner, Royal Caribbean International Australia & New Zealand, described Voyager’s makeover as an “innovator in holidays” that’ll provide guests with “bold adventures and exhilerating features”.

THE PERFECT STORM
The Perfect Storm? More like The Perfect Thrill!
Voyager of the Seas will receive Royal Caribbean’s thrilling duo waterslide experience – Typhoon and Cyclone. The pair wind past each other as they twist and turn down three stories of the ship.
Running parallel, they’re also the perfect ride for guests to challenge each other in a highspeed race.
The new waterslides join returning attractions such as FlowRider Surf Simulator, rock-climbing wall and mini-golf.
LASER TAG
Challenge the family, friends or some randos on the ship.
Battle for Planet Z laser tag will be fitted to the vessel as a glow-in-the-dark adventure during which players will travel the universe, encounter aliens and robots before taking out their enemies with a bright light.
There”ll be no shortage of fun in Studio B – where laser tag will be located.
VOYAGER’S FIRST NURSERY
Travellers with bubs will be ecstatic about this one!
Voyager of the Seas will receive its first nursery in the amplification where babies and tots will be well looked after by experienced staff.
For slightly older three- to- five-year-olds, there’ll be areas created just for them inside Adventure Ocean (see below for more).
BETTER SPOTS FOR TODDLERS & TEENS TO HANG
Travelling with the family is so much fun, especially when there are youth facilities that can take care of the young ones.
JOKES, family time is the best time but when the adults do want some along time, they can rest assured knowing their children are having a blast in top-to-bottom redesigned youth spaces.
Adventure Ocean (three-to-12-year-olds) will receive a modern makeover to include a free-play approach in an open layout. There’ll be whimsical activities in every corner, so they’ll probably temper tantrum when the parents pick them up.
As for the teens, they’re receiving their own exclusive, updated hangout like no other on board, along with the addition of a laidback outdoor deck.
ENHANCED RELAXATION
Relaxing and recharging will be a whole lot easier inside the enhanced and relocated Vitality Spa and Fitness Centre.
Moving to the aft of the ship, the spa and gym will continue to offer an extensive menu of services – massages, acupuncture, manicures, fitness classes, personal training etc. – along with a refreshed Solarium that will EXCLUSIVE ADULTS-ONLY!
Oh yeah, bring on those children-free, erm sorry, tranquil vibes.
MORE PLACES TO SLEEP
Because Voyager of the Seas is SO popular (especially in Australia – am I right or am I right?!), Royal Caribbean has added 72 new inside and balcony staterooms.
More places to sleep = more beds to fill = more product for Agents to sell = more commission baby!
A REIMAGINED APP
The reimagined ship will also feature the new Royal Caribbean International mobile app, with which travellers can check in for their cruise holiday, explore and plan activities, view onboard expenses, book dining, reserve shore excursions and more.
