Want more Japan? ANA ups Sydney flights to 10-times weekly

Japan’s largest airline, All Nippon Airways (ANA) has announced that it will increase flight capacity between Sydney and Tokyo Haneda later this month.

Japan’s largest airline, All Nippon Airways (ANA) has announced that it will increase flight capacity between Sydney and Tokyo Haneda later this month.

Commencing 22 January 2023, All Nippon Airways will add three day-time departures per week from Sydney, giving the carrier 10 weekly flights between Australia and Japan’s busiest airports.

Complementing ANA’s existing daily night-time services, the extra flights will depart Kingsford Smith Airport every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 12.30 pm and arrive in Tokyo at 8.05 pm.

With travel to Japan returning in a big way, the extra flights will be a welcome addition to air capacity to the Asian nation. They will also be a boost for tourism into NSW and Australia generally.

To mark the announcement, ANA is offering discounted fares on the route, with return economy class airfares to Tokyo starting from AU$1,621 (including all taxes and fees).

The sale will run until 20 January 2023 for travel between 22 January and 25 March 2023, which is perfect for those looking to head to Japan for a snow holiday – and there are a lot of them.

ANA Australia country manager Brett Walsh told Karryon there is plenty of availability on these new daytime services in both directions.

“It’s not too late to book a ski trip to one of Japan’s amazing ski fields,” he said.

“With the Australian Dollar strong against the Japanese Yen, it is a great time to travel to Japan.

“Remember that ANA includes all ski equipment as part of your check-in luggage at no additional cost!”

In early December 2022, ANA marked seven years of flying between Sydney and Tokyo Haneda at an event at Sydney Airport. And just before the new year, it celebrated 70 years of operations.
