Around 260 travel industry professionals attended the Council of Australian Tour Operators (CATO) Travel Trivia Masters event on Thursday following the successful first staging of the event last year.

Emceed by travel industry host Julia Zaetta along with television personality and Gogglebox star Jad Nehmetallah, the CATO event was themed around … travel of course!

And the industry showed up for the event in style, with many outfits turning heads (and even conducting traffic … like Karryon’s own air traffic marshallers!).

With the event open to the entire travel industry, the CATO Travel Trivia Masters was held at Sydney’s Dolton House at Darling Island Wharf and included a two-course dinner, beverages and entertainment – including dance-offs for prizes (stay tuned to Karryon’s social pages for all the evidence!).

And then there was the trivia, the winners of which were rewarded $100 Mastercard CashPassport prizes.

Other supporting sponsors included CashPassport, The Travel Corporation, Bunnik Tours, South Africa Tourism, Philippines Tourism and Atout France, among others.

Intrepid travel partnerships manager Abbe Lunn gave an update on the latest happenings at the small group travel specialist, who is celebrating 30 years of adventures in 2023.

“We exist to inspire, create, share and lead the best travel experiences ever – for both people and planet,” Lunn told those at the CATO event.

CATO managing director Brett Jardine said the event showcased “the team collaboration and friendly competitive spirit across all industry sectors”.

“It was also wonderful to see so much effort and creativity that went into the various travel-inspired themed costumes displayed,” he added.

In June, the council announced it had achieved milestone membership levels, welcoming almost an additional one-third (30 per cent) of new businesses to the peak industry body compared to the same period in 2022.
