Korea has used its seductive ‘Black Widow’ powers to entice Australian travellers, as part of its new comic-style campaign.
Although officially launched in April, agents and industry friends officially viewed the 1.30 viral video at the annual KTO Roadshow in Sydney last night.
Held at the PARKROYAL in Sydney, KTO also used the gathering as an opportunity to promote its latest advertisement ‘Korea, Age of Imagination’.
Inspired by the blockbuster movie, ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ (which was filmed in downtown Seoul) it highlights the real-life superheroes around Korea from the ‘D-Man’ – Korean delivery guys to the ‘Black Mermaid’ – the famous women divers of Jeju Island.
KTO Marketing Manager, Jennifer Doherty, said the new campaign was a fresh way to promote the destination and boost the country’s brand image.
“It offers an insight into the unique lives and culture of Korea such as the 24/7 food delivery service, the nightlife of Seoul, traditional Korean food and art, and the famous women divers of Jeju Island.”

Although having launched less than a month ago, the comic-inspired ad is already gaining traction amongst Australian travellers.
According to KTO, nine percent more Australians travelled to Korea between January and April this year, compared to the same period 2014.
Jennifer told KarryOn this figure has grown steadily over the last five years, with more Australians keen to visit during the winter period.
“They’re enjoying a white Christmas and of course the growth in interest in Korea’s ski resorts in the lead up to the Winter Olympics in 2018.”

As well as showing off the new ad, KTO also invited half Korean and half Egyptian MasterChef contender, Amina Elshafei for a special talk.
