Aussie fans of Netflix hit Bridgerton can get their Regency-era fix at original filming locations, including stately manors and manicured gardens, in and around London. With Season 3 now streaming, here’s where you can step into the swoon-worthy world of Bridgerton on your next UK holiday for a day trip or part of a themed road trip.
Screen tourism aka set-jetting now accounts for one-third of travellers to the UK, according to VisitBritain. So, with Bridgerton currently the top-streamed show in Australia, UK travel insurance company Quotezone scouted the top five real-life filming locations that are also open to the public.
Whether you’re a fan of the Bridgerton clan or the Featherington family, avid viewers of the hit show will be thrilled to visit the exteriors of both homes in and around London.
1. Ranger’s House, London
The titular Bridgerton family residence uses the exteriors of Ranger’s House, a Georgian villa built on the edge of Greenwich Park and Blackheath in south-east London, which has welcomed royalty and aristocracy and is now open to the public. It also houses The Wernher Collection of art.
2. Hatfield House, Hertfordshire
Visitors can also check out Hatfield House in Hertfordshire, around 50 minutes’ train ride from central London, where the interior shots of Penelope Featherington’s home are filmed. The stately home and gardens are open for visits and the interior aesthetic perfectly suits the colourful Featherington fam.
3. No 1. Royal Crescent, Somerset
A 1.5-hour train ride from central London, The Royal Crescent in Bath, Somerset acts as the exterior of the Featherington family home. The 18th-century former Georgian townhouse is now a museum decorated and furnished to 1776-1796 style where visitors can experience life as it was in Georgian Bath.
4. Halton House, Buckinghamshire
The interior scenes of the Bridgerton home and the Bridgerton ball at the end of Season 2 were shot at the French-style Halton House in Aylesbury. The mansion is currently the main Officers’ Mess and home to serving personnel at RAF Halton and is only available to view on planned open days. Aylesbury in ‘Bucks’ is around an hour’s train ride from London.
5. Wilton House, Wiltshire
This grand country home’s gardens and staterooms feature in several Bridgerton episodes, standing in for Queen Charlotte’s bedroom, parlour and garden. Wilton House was also used as the Duke of Hasting’s house exterior and Lady Danbury’s library. The estate is open to the public in summer and the train from central London to Salisbury takes about 1.5 hours.
