Air New Zealand has won Design Airline of the Year Oceania 2022 at TheDesignAir awards with the announcement of a new cabin product in 2024 and new culinary proposition and sustainable serviceware.
With a judging panel of industry experts, frequent flyers and team members, TheDesignAir is the only annual awards to recognise airlines that invest in design, product and brand.
TheDesignAir Founder Jonny Clark said Air New Zealand earned a well-deserved award as Design Airline of the Year, Oceania 2022.
“With the announcement of a new cabin product in the coming years, a strong bold brand, its clever use of safety videos as a marketing device and brand partnerships with excellent design leaders, the carrier oozes design details across the passenger experience,” Mr Clark said.
Air New Zealand Chief Customer and Sales Officer Leanne Geraghty said the airline continued to work hard behind the scenes to innovate the customer journey despite ongoing travel restrictions.
“It’s a huge part of how we demonstrate manaaki (care) for our customers,” she said.
“In Premium cabins, we switched to lighter serviceware, helping to reduce carbon emissions, and in Economy, introduced new inflight serviceware to reduce plastic dishes by 28 million every year.
“Our new international menu showcases the best of New Zealand produce and allows customers in Premium to customise their choices.”
In 2024, Air New Zealand’s Boeing 787-9s will have a new Business Premier Luxe suite and Business Premier seat and a world-first Skynest along with four other cabin options.
Mr Clark added: “We’re thrilled to see the carrier continue to evolve its passenger experience, invest in new products and continue to be the brand platform for Aotearoa design on the international stage.”
