Hurtigruten Norway will debut two itineraries aboard the fully refurbished MS Trollfjord as additions to the existing Coastal Express with the Svalbard Express launching on 3 June 2023 and the North Cape Express departing on 26 September 2023.
The North Cape Express will provide an iconic experience along the Norwegian coast, while The Svalbard Express ventures into the world’s northernmost populated area.
The Svalbard Express was one of Norway’s iconic sailing routes and the new 16-day itinerary includes the Lofoten Islands, Vesterålen and the North Cape before heading north to Longyearbyen in Svalbard.
The 16-day North Cape Express will take guests to Norway’s capital Oslo as well as new ports in southern Norway, Hardangerfjord and cities and towns along the coast.

The Coastal Express has carried locals, goods and tourists along Norway’s coast since 1893 and the new itineraries will continue to bring freight and cargo to these remote regions while adding an elevated offering to the traditional experience.
Guests will get to enjoy half-or full-day port visits, while dining options include an à la carte restaurant with tasting menus; all-day dining, afternoon tea and takeaway services plus picnic and culinary excursions will also be available, another first for the company.
Hurtigruten Norway CEO Hedda Felin said: “For almost 130 years, we have been carrying travellers on what is often referred to as ‘the most beautiful voyage in the world’, and no one does the Norwegian coast better than Hurtigruten Norway.”
“With the Svalbard Express and North Cape Express, we will offer an experience similar to the Orient Express, combining a premium onboard experience with beautiful scenery, exceptional excursions, and some of the best food on any sea.”

Hurtigruten Asia Pacific managing director Damian Perry said the new itineraries will appeal to Aussie and Kiwi travellers seeking authentic local experiences.
“From Norway’s stunning fjords and its spectacular coastline to sensational Scandi cuisine, we anticipate the new Svalbard Express and North Cape Express itineraries will become absolute bucket-list journeys for discerning travellers.”
