Missing flying? Download Qantas' virtual backgrounds and inflight soundtrack

First and final call for all fellow avgeeks and travel tragics: If you're about to start your next video meeting in lockdown but would rather be winging your way in style to an exotic overseas destination while guzzling complimentary champers (and let's face it, who wouldn't?), Qantas has got you covered. Sort of. Well, virtually at least.

First and final call for all fellow avgeeks and travel tragics: If you’re about to start your next video meeting in lockdown but would rather be winging your way in style to an exotic overseas destination while guzzling complimentary champers (and let’s face it, who wouldn’t?), Qantas has got you covered. Sort of. Well, virtually at least.

The airline has released a series of high flying meeting backgrounds to zoom you back onboard a domestic or international Qantas flight with 10 easily downloadable (and free) in-situ backgrounds to create your own QF experience for virtual meetings.

Now you can conduct your catch-ups from the comfort of a Business Class seat, sitting behind the pilots in the cockpit jump seat, or from one of the Qantas’ luxury lounges.

BYO champers and wearing Qantas PJ’s and an eye mask, however, is optional.

Just don’t ask your nearest and dearest to offer any premium inflight service while on your zoom or your journey or career prospects may not end well.

Qantas Group Chief Customer Officer Stephanie Tully said it’s a fun way to engage with Frequent Flyers who are keen to recapture the experience of being up in the air.

“Our customers tell us they miss flying as much as getting to the destination itself, and this sensory experience will help fill the temporary void while some of us can’t fly because of border closures.”

And if you fancy a familiar tune to inspire your future travel daydreams, Qantas has loaded up its signature soothing soundtrack for free on Spotify and Apple Music for the first time following requests from Frequent Flyers.

The airline’s dreamy soundtrack was created especially for Qantas by Australian composer Haydn Walker and produced by Nathan Cavaleri and is the boarding and inflight default music on all Qantas domestic and international flights.

Have a listen… Sound familiar?

I have to admit; I love this soundtrack. Just listening to it again brings back so many good memories.

Cue travel tears. Sniff, sniff.

The beautiful soundtrack will also feature on the Qantas YouTube channel, set to aerial footage of some of the most spectacular landscapes around Australia.

Release your inner avgeek, and relax…

In recent months, Qantas also made a limited number of inflight products available for purchase for those wanting to create their own inflight experience at home, including its iconic Business Class PJs and care packs featuring wine amenity kits and Qantas playing cards.

A handful of Qantas Frequent Flyer members also dropped a whopping 12.3 million Qantas Points to secure a range of exclusive items and experiences in the first-ever Qantas Frequent Flyer online Points Auction last week.

“We have some of the most engaged Frequent Flyer members in the world, and while we might not be able to take them around the world right now, we can remind them of what they have to look forward to when we welcome them back on board a Qantas flight in the future,” says Stephanie Tully.
