While most people think of bustling Taipei when they think of Taiwan, the group also enjoyed the many tranquil national parks around the country.

Yangmingshan is literally in Taipei’s backyard and at 1,000 meters above sea level the group enjoyed natural hot springs, volcanic fumaroles and sulphurous rocks.

Yehliu National Geo Park surprised everyone with its famous hoodoo stones and Sun Moon Lake – the largest body of freshwater in Taiwan – was as pretty as a picture as the group cycled around lush mountainous scenery.

A hike around Taroko Gorge saw some dramatic landscape.

Foodie highlights included the night markets at the Gold Rush town of Jiufen and Yilan, where everything from dumplings to pancakes with ice cream and peanut brittle was sampled.

One agent commented that “the tour provided a comprehensive look at Taiwan, from the city bustle of Taipei to the country and surrounds at Sun Moon Lake and Taroko Gorge.”

And food seemed to be a highlight with one agent saying “there was always something different for everyone to try and often challenge themselves.”
