The world’s most popular hostels

As more and more travellers seek affordable accommodation, HotelsCombined.com release a list of the world’s most popular hostels.

As more and more travellers seek affordable accommodation, HotelsCombined.com release a list of the world’s most popular hostels.

For many of us, accommodation during travel is a choice. Some of us can opt to be lured by the beautiful images of expansive and expensive luxury resorts and spas. Others tend to flip the ‘H’ in hotel for an ‘M’ and settle for more modest motel options.

Then there’s the third option, an emerging trend, that is no longer reserved for back packers.

The hostel, according to HotelsCombined.com, is being recognised by young and old, families and couples as affordable and convenient holiday accommodation.

“While not extravagant in their offerings, hostels generally offer the basics,” says the brand’s Global PR and Content Manager, Alycia Simmons. “They are a clean and safe place to stay with a bathroom and access to a communal kitchen.”

However, not all hostels are considered equal.

Out of the 800 000 properties surveyed, those that topped the most popular list are hostels that are considered clean, placed in a convenient location and are safe for children and the elderly.
