Be chill our hearts – Club Med opens in Kiroro, Japan in December 2022 and we’re in a flurry of excitement for the elevated mountain-meets-ocean, ski-in, ski-out resort and snow experience on Hokkaido that’s also easily accessible.

Hokkaido is a winter wonderland.

Known as a global powder skiing mecca, situated outside Niseko between Otaru city and Sapporo city in Hokkaido and easily accessible from New Chitose Airport and by train, Club Med Kiroro has an average annual snowfall of 21m – more than anywhere else in Japan.

The new Club Med Kiroro will take over and combine two existing properties to create one integrated snow resort with two distinctive buildings that blend seamlessly with the environment.

Club Med Kiroro Peak will open in December (with reservations available from 1 August 2022) followed by Club Med Kiroro Grand in 2023 and the combined properties will offer close to 400 guestrooms.

Club Med Kiroro Grand will open in 2023.

Designed for the unconventional travel seeker, couples and families with teenagers alike, Club Med president Henri Giscard d’Estaing said Club Med Kiroro’s one-of-a-kind facilities and unique experiences will appeal to thrill-seeking mavericks.

“Club Med Kiroro lies in the outer bounds of the conventional, where being different and distinctive is the ordinary.”

“With the resort’s accessibility, panoramic mountain views, quality powder snow in the winter and close proximity to travel hotspots such as Otaru coastal town, there are endless opportunities to create a constant stream of activities all year round.”

Onsite amenities and activities will include 23 courses for all levels, a natural hot-spring onsen, snowboarding and snowshoeing experiences, a snow park, nature centres, an indoor resort pool, arts and cultural galleries and specialty restaurants.

Club Med has three other resorts in Japan: the trendy Club Med Tomamu and stylish Club Med Sahoro in Hokkaido and the vibrant Club Med Kabira Ishigaki in Okinawa.
