Healthwise devised a corporate wellness program for Corporate Traveller and FCM Travel employees to look after their health and wellbeing on work trips and at home, tapping into their expert insights.

Firstly, keep a first-aid kit handy that includes all your essentials for the duration of the trip. Think band-aids, antiseptic cream and safety pins plus any painkillers and prescription medicines you need. If you’re headed to a tropical area, pack some bug repellent as well.

Remember to keep up your pandemic protocol by hand washing, using sanitiser and wiping down high-touch surfaces such as tray tables, armrests and hotel remotes.

Eliminate any last-minute stress by perfecting your pre-airport routine – arrange your seat selection online, book transport and pack before a good night’s sleep. Healthwise recommends the aisle seat for easy access to stretch your legs mid-flight.

You can also ensure you arrive feeling refreshed and comfortable by avoiding caffeine and alcohol during your flight. Stick to water during long-haul flights to avoid the dehydrating effects of coffee and wine.

In your destination, select balanced meals and eat in moderation, avoiding excess sugar that can play havoc with your energy levels.

Healthwise also recommends to keep moving. Use your hotel’s pool or fitness options, modify your gym routine for your guestroom, practice yoga or stretch and go for a walk to adjust to your new surrounds and time zone.

Healthwise Global Business Leader Tod Horton said: “Even if they’re short on time and seeking convenience, business travellers can still maintain and improve their health.”

“Something as simple as walking the length of the plane is worth doing. When it comes to your wellbeing, every little step helps.”
