How to plan a 4-day stay
To maximise your stay, follow this ideal itinerary. Check out the handy map to see how easy it is to tour this lively city.
Day 1 – Welcome to Grapevine!

Once you’ve arrived from Sydney or Melbourne (direct Brisbane flights commence in October), it’s effortless to reach Grapevine from Dallas Fort Worth Airport (DFW).
Not only is the average wait time at customs under 18 minutes (wow), but all local hotels are within 10 minutes of DFW, with most offering complimentary airport transportation!
This means in no time, you’ll be discovering the city’s Historic Main Street District, including an abundance of food and beverage options, plus live music, to kickstart your holiday in style.
Day 2 – Grapevine’s Historic Main Street District

Start your day with a brew at one of Main Street’s many cafés before heading 45 metres up the Grapevine Observation Tower for 360-degree views of the area, including the lake and airport.
Follow with a yummy 3-hour walking food tour, merging the city’s history with its tastiest cuisine.
Spend the afternoon discovering the creativity of local artists at the many galleries and art studios before learning how Grapevine went from a farming settlement in 1844 to the thriving tourism hub it is today at the Settlement to City Museum.
Texas is the United States’ fifth largest wine producer, something better tasted than explained. You can do this on the Grapevine Urban Wine Trail, where you’ll revel in the trail’s many wine tasting rooms! There’s also GrapeFest if you’re travelling in September.
Conclude your day with dinner and tunes: The Historic Main Street District has plenty on offer, including a ton of free live music every evening.
Day 3 – A step back in time

As the saying goes, “Everything’s bigger in Texas”, including breakfast! See just how big at one of the city’s popular diners, including Old West Café’, Waffle Way or Lone Star Café.
Experience life on the prairie at the beautifully preserved historic Nash Farm, before heading for a nostalgic journey on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad. The western shops, saloons, and museums en route to the Historic Stockyards leave you in no doubt where you are in the world.
Want to know one of the most fun ways to spend a Friday or Saturday night in Grapevine? It’s at Texas Star Dinner Theater, where you’ll join in a comical, western, whodunnit murder mystery and dinner show!
Day 4 – Portal hopping & tax-free shopping

Oh, you’re in for a treat today. First, step into the surreal Meow Wolf wonderland where reality and imagination collide in a bold kaleidoscope of immersive art installations and interactive experiences. It’s a vibe!
Next, relish the Texas ‘no tax’ rules to shop to your heart’s content at Grapevine Mills. With 180 shops, restaurants, and attractions vying for your attention, expect to leave with more bags than you arrived with. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World may be more your cuppa.
You’ve probably heard of pickleball, it’s the fastest-growing sport in the US. But have you heard of Chicken n Pickle? It’s a lively indoor/outdoor entertainment complex with tasty wood-fired rotisserie chicken and – you guessed it – pickleball! The yard games and sports bar make this fun for the whole fam.
