For last year’s International Day of Happiness (20 March, FYI), Fijian locals took over Tourism Fiji’s Instagram profile for 24 hours to showcase 24 unfiltered, everyday snapshots of happiness.

In 2024, Fiji highlights all the ways to experience happiness in the 333-island archipelago via its cultural, natural, sustainable and culinary attributes and general good-time vibes.

After all, figures show that Fiji is one of Aussie travellers’ happy places with our love affair with the island nation showing no signs of slowing down in terms of visitation.

To immerse yourself in the feel-good appeal of nature, spend time in the ocean, go surfing, walk barefoot, hike to view waterfalls and watch the vibrant sunsets.

Visit the Yasawa Islands for culture and outdoor adventures or the small town of Savusavu to enjoy its laidback charm and resorts.

Food – the cooking, eating and sharing with others – is one of Fiji’s favourite pastimes. You might even be invited to share a local meal while you’re there.

Tourism Fiji also advises visitors to let the happiness of the locals rub off on them. Fijians are famous for their friendliness and you’ll feel less stressed in a happy atmosphere.

Finally, enjoy some R ‘n’ R to return home feeling rejuvenated from your Fiji holiday. Whether that’s pool time, ocean frolicking, mud bathing or booking in a spa treatment or wellness retreat, it’s time well spent on happiness.
