It’s only four days into the New Year but you’re already ready for your next escape, the only problem is, you don’t want to use too much of your leave.

No problems, Contiki has you covered. The tour operator scanned the 2018 calendar and compared to upcoming public holidays to find a way to turn 20 days of annual leave into a 49-day holiday.

Here are the travel hacks that’ll have you living life to the fullest without using up your holiday leave:

4 days off, 1 day of leave

It’s the first public holiday of the year and the most conveniently located. Contiki suggests using the Australia Day weekend to go on a four-day holiday from 25-28th that’ll see you only requesting leave for the 25th.

9 days off, 4 days of leave

Less than half of the holiday comes out of your leave! What?! That’s what you’ll get if you take a trip over Anzac Day from 21 to 29 April.

If you prefer to leave your holidays to later in the year, you could score the same deal by travelling over the October break from 29 September to 7 October.

16 days off, 8 days of leave

You’ll still have 12 days to spare if you book a trip over the first religious holiday of the year, with dates from 26 March to 6 April.

9 days off, 3 days of leave

It’s the dream! Instead of hanging with the family over Christmas, ask them for the year off so that you can go travelling for nine days and only use up three days of leave. This is achieved by requesting time off from 22 to 30 December.
