Is Tripr just Tinder for travellers?

No more hoping you'd meet someone dreamy on your holidays, now you can ensure it will happen. All you need to do is book them in advance.

No more hoping you’d meet someone dreamy on your holidays, now you can ensure it will happen. All you need to do is book them in advance.

Last week we talked about an app that allows you to follow a local’s footsteps. Now here’s an app that helps you find locals or travel buddies to actually show you around, they may have been inspired by our article about using Tinder for travel because this app is exactly that.

Meet Tripr

Tripr allows you to meet people around the world who will be at the same place and same time, before you even arrive at your destination. For a little tryst perhaps or just some honest adventuring with a new friend. No more waiting on your mates to work around their schedules or to save up their moolah, just make new ones on the fly.

We want to make travel more social. We want your next trip to be better. Tripr lets you plan who you are going to meet. Don’t leave it to chance.

You book hotels, you book flights now you can also book your friends, what an age we live in. Tripr connects travellers via Facebook. You just type in your travel plans and the app connects you to people who’ll be at the same place at the same time.

You view potential friends (or more) through their Tinder like profile and just like Tinder, you can swipe yes to express interest in meeting them when you arrive, and if they also swipe yes on you, it allows you to chat to your new mate.

Nicholas Green, the app’s chief executive, says Tripr is helpful because it lets travelers meet their fellow visitors ahead of time, instead of waiting till they arrive in a new place. “Our users are connected in terms of where they will be rather than in terms of where they currently are,” Green told The New York Times.

Seems like honest intentions, but it sounds like it could also be used for random hook ups overseas. We all know we’re all too innocent and pure for that.
