Cutting-edge design

LA-based art collector and event organiser for some of the world’s biggest brands, J. Ben Bourgeois, tapped one of Mexico’s top architects to help him create ZihFit (main image and below) – an eight-bedroom sanctuary on Mexico’s Pacific Coast.

A new, holistic haven in Zihuatanejo, the ethos of the retreat is to offer guests “transformative wellness”.

Six-night retreats explore traditional medicine, locavore cuisine, exercise regimens, mindful meditation and a sacred cacao and Temazcal ceremony.

Mornings begin with yoga sessions to views of Zihuatanejo town and its bay, while afternoons and evenings feature a range of fitness and dance classes from the high-intensity Tabata and Zumba to the rhythmic bachata and salsa under the stars.

Nature-based treatments

Like something straight from a storybook, Coquillade Provence is a resort enveloped by vines and olive trees with six residences, the oldest dating back to the 11th century.

Here, in the French region of Provence, the vines are used in the new wellness program. Vinotherapy is the use of grape-based oils and scrubs as part of the spa menu. Treatments also include lavender from the property.

Therapeutic waters

You’re bound to please the fussiest of spa enthusiasts with this sprawling hydrotherapy spa and resort in Colorado, where there are 25 pools with healing spring waters.

The spring at The Springs Resort was discovered hundreds of years ago by the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, and has long been known for its healing powers.

The ‘mother spring’ is said to be the world’s deepest geothermal hot spring with 13 minerals and elements.

After taking a dip, guests can try the new Therabody Rapid-Recovery treatments (for relaxation and rapid muscle recovery), a massage, facial or body scrub.

Indigenous treatments
