The 5-star Adelaide Marriott Hotel is now open, marking many milestones as the global hospitality group’s first location in South Australia, the fifth branded hotel in Australia and Marriott International’s 600th property in Asia-Pacific, excluding China.
Situated in the historic 150-year-old General Post Office (GPO) building in the CBD, Adelaide Marriott Hotel’s design approach leans into its heritage connection, paying homage to Overland Telegraph Line pioneer and Postmaster General Sir Charles Todd.

It also incorporates Adelaide nuances and South Australian elements with local materials and a colour palette that references the state’s wine region through furniture, art and a custom carpet.

Specially commissioned artworks include culturally significant pieces by First Nations artists of the APY Arts Centre Collective in the state’s north.
Located 15 minutes from Adelaide Airport, the 14-storey tower behind the original building contains 285 guestrooms with views of either the Adelaide skyline or Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga.

Adelaide Marriott Hotel features three dining spaces – Greatroom, Penny Blue and the Exchange Lane laneway bar – along with a fitness studio, 18m indoor pool and meeting and event spaces.
Marriott International Australia, New Zealand & Pacific Area Vice President Jason Nuell said: “Located in the iconic GPO building, this hotel will become a true flagship property for Marriott Hotels as we continue to deliver contemporary design and elevated guest experiences.”

Adelaide Marriott Hotel General Manager Paul Gallop added: “Our prime city location makes it the perfect launching pad for interstate and overseas visitors to tap into all that the destination has to offer.”
“We are excited to open this milestone hotel, the first Marriott Hotel in South Australia, and look forward to welcoming our guests.”
