Adelaide Marriott Hotel to open in 2024 as the first Marriott International hotel in South Australia

Adelaide Marriott Hotel is set to open in mid-2024 as part of a redevelopment of the Adelaide General Post Office (GPO) building.

Adelaide Marriott Hotel is set to open in mid-2024 as part of a redevelopment of the Adelaide General Post Office (GPO) building.

The hotel will join other Marriott Hotels in Australia – in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, signifying an expansion of the hotel group’s flagship brand across Australia’s major metropolitan hubs.

“Adelaide Marriott Hotel is a milestone signing for Marriott as it represents our entry into a new market with one of our most globally recognised brands,” said Richard Crawford, Vice President of Hotel Development for Australia, New Zealand and Pacific.

“Establishing a presence in Adelaide will provide Marriott the opportunity to meet the growing demand for business and leisure travel in the region,” said Crawford.

In 2023, Marriott International announced its 1000th hotel in the Asia Pacific region. The group now has more than 30 properties in Australia and nearly 20 more in the pipeline.

In the past year, other brands in the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio have debuted here including Moxy, Le Méridien and JW Marriott – and W Hotel Sydney opened in October.

The hotel will include a 15-storey tower, and 285 guestrooms (including 12 suites), offering views of the city skyline and Victoria Square.

Marriott International says the hotel is expected to include two contemporary dining venues, a fitness studio, an 18-metre indoor swimming pool, and 535 square metres of meeting and event space.
