Aman has pioneered a new transformative underwater wellness journey in Indonesia.
The seven-day experience – held at Amanwana on Moyo Island, a designated National Park – includes underwater meditation, free diving, a sea life experience, and the opportunity to swim with whale sharks.
Amanwana Resort Manager, Faisal Amri Lubis, says the idea came from a collective brainstorm between Aman Indonesia and Aman’s wellness teams.
“Our goal was to create an alternative to conventional wellness routines that fully leveraged the pristine waters surrounding Moyo Island.
“By blending three elements – the water landscape, diving expertise, and meditative practices – this distinctive wellness experience was born.”

Lubis says the underwater setting allows guests to physically and mentally distance themselves from the stresses and distractions of life on land.
“The soothing sounds of water create a calming effect that enhances the meditative state, while buoyancy and controlled breathing foster a deeper sense of relaxation and concentration.
“This setting enhances mindfulness and presence in a way that can be more challenging to achieve on land,” he says.
“Meditating underwater is transformative as it reawakens our senses and reconnects us with our inner selves. Considering our initial existence in the water within our mother’s womb, this practice taps into a deeply ingrained aspect of our being.”
He says being submerged in water provides an ultimate sense of peace, as a soothing environment where you can be enveloped by complete silence, instilling a sense of calm and relaxation.
“Meditating underwater can slow your heart rate and heighten your senses. It will reward you with a sense of profound clarity that only being in water can provide.”

The experience is available on request throughout the year and is led by Thai meditation practitioner, Becky Surassamee, who has more than 10 years of experience as a PADI IDC Staff Instructor and PADI Freediving Instructor.
Anyone can participate in the experience, regardless if you have previous dive experience.
