Aurora’s Antarctic Explorer: Through the Lens will give avid photographers the opportunity to travel with some of the world’s best photographers.
The Antarctic expedition with Aurora will run for 12 days in February 2026, giving photography enthusiasts the chance to learn from professional photographers including Nigel Danson, Mads Peter Iverson, Rachel Bigsby, Scott Portelli and James Popsys.
Guests will gain insights into all aspects of setting up and taking photos regardless of their camera gear or smartphone, through personalised guidance both onboard and during onshore adventures.
Aurora CMO, Greg Cromier says, ‘With the Antarctic summer months offering between 18-24 hours of daylight, each day’s activities will be curated to provide optimum opportunities for photographers to capture one of the world’s most pristine destinations, complemented by captivating lectures, insightful presentations and invaluable tips to help passengers capture unforgettable moments in Antarctica like a professional.
“Aurora Expeditions is all about immersive, educational and adventurous small ship experiences in some of the world’s most remote destinations. We’re thrilled to be offering our passengers the opportunity to learn from this group of exceptionally talented photographers.”
Lead photographer, Nigel Danson says, “Antarctica feels unlike anywhere else on Earth. I’ve wanted to visit since I watched David Attenborough presenting a BBC show about leopard seals when I was just eight years old, and for me it represents the pinnacle of photographic and nature adventures,”
“This trip will be my third visit, and I’m every bit as excited as my first. It truly is a trip of a lifetime, and I look forward to welcoming you onboard and shooting together.”
Aurora has two purpose-built small ships, Greg Mortimer and Sylvia Earle with a third ship, Douglas Mawson, setting sail in December 2025.
