Constellation Journeys launches new Balkans and Transylvania private luxury train journey for 2025

Melbourne-based luxury tour operator Constellation Journeys has announced a new 18-day journey The Balkans & Transylvania by Private Train, to run from 31 August to 17 September, 2025.

Melbourne-based luxury tour operator Constellation Journeys has announced a new 18-day journey The Balkans & Transylvania by Private Train, to run from 31 August to 17 September, 2025.

The new journey has been added following the success of its 2023 ‘Central Europe by Private Train’ itinerary.

Travelling the legendary route from Budapest to Istanbul for 18 days with all daytime travel and overnight hotel stays, guests will enjoy air-conditioned carriages with panoramic windows and fine dining in old world dining cars that includes a bar and lounge car.

The journey commences with two nights in Budapest and spends one or more nights in Cluj Napoca, Sinai, Brasov and Bucharest in Romania as well as Veliko Tarnovo, Sofia and Plovdiv in Bulgaria – before concluding with a three-night stay in Istanbul.

Guests can expect to take in mountain scenery; castles, citadels and fortresses; the legends, myths and reality of Count Dracula; and the history and culture of these less-visited European destinations.

All travel, accommodation, sightseeing, dining, drinks, and a large team of tour hosts, including an Australian doctor, are included.

Constellation Journeys was founded in 2017, offering unique and immersive journeys, with a focus on personalised service, exclusive access, and immersive cultural experiences.

“If you’re looking to take the path less travelled and uncover one of Europe’s few remaining hidden gems, the Balkans and Transylvania await. Although more people cotton on to what makes this region so enchanting every day, for now it remains less crowded than Western European destinations, allowing you to soak up its rich history, authentic cultures, welcoming locals and breathtaking landscapes at a relaxed pace,” said Dan Kotzmann, Founder and Managing Director of Constellation Journeys.
